PLAN DE L'ENCEINTE DU KSAIl-BAGAà (PROVINCE DE CONSTANTINE). Le fort byzantin de Ksar-Bagaï est un immense quadrilatère flanque de tours rondes à trois de ses angles, et, sur les côtés, de plusieurs petites tours carrées faisant saillie. Le côté AB mesure a35 mètres; le côté BC , 280 mètres; le côté CD, 283 mètres et le côté DA , 37^ mètres. Au point K se trouve une enceinte intérieure, sorte de second fort bâti sur la partie la plus escarpée : c'est au milieu de celle seconde enceinte que j'ai retrouvé I inscription n° ii5, brisée en deux morceaux Au point H on remarque les subslructions d'une mosquée arabe, décorée de colonnes antiques encore debout; le tracé de la fouille que j'y ai fait exécuter est indiqué sur le plan en pointillé; cette mosquée est entourée d'un cimetière arabe. La lettre L indique l'emplacement de l'ins- cription n° i»6; en E se trouve la figure d'une pierre plate, très-longue, décorée d'une croix grecque en relief, inscrite dans un cercle; cette pierre est placée dans l'enceinte, à 60 mètres environ de la tour C. Le chapiteau byzantin ( n" ia5) se trouve dans la plaine, dans la direction indiquée par F. Los autres inscriptions font pailie des murs d'enceinte.
